The home of H&M, IKEA, Volvo, and, of course, Zlatan Ibrahimovic…
Not many people are aware that Sweden is the 3rd largest county in Europe. The diversity in the natural scenery from south to the far north is unique and offers a wide range of different settings for filmmakers, whether you are looking for untouched snow wilderness, small country town feel, or a modern and vibrant city environment.
The film industry is mainly concentrated in the capital, Stockholm. But with the Viking legacy, the film crews never ask twice about going to the most impassable places to shoot. A camera crane on top of a mountain, why not? The Swedes are in general very calm, understated, and honest people – and they are always ready for an adventure. All crew members speak English fluently and are used to working with international production companies.
Sweden is very rich in nature resources like wood, steel, and iron. The Swedes are highly recognized all over the world for their skills in producing simple but stunning design and architecture. Wood, steel, and iron typically as key elements. Minimalistic Scandinavian design combined with beautiful nature and crystal-clear water are often key words we hear from our clients when looking for locations in Sweden. And fortunately, Sweden has a lot of each!
Sweden’s climate is much milder than most other countries that lie as far north. The reasons are the many big lakes and the Gulf Stream that flows off Norway’s west coast. While some countries never even experience a flake of snow during a winter, mid-northern Sweden is enveloped in it. And with the snow comes ice that creates the perfect scenery for magnificent car driving footage on frozen lakes – sometimes combined with the spectacular Northern Lights that are visible from September to the end of March. In the winter, the sun never rises that high in the sky for long, meaning that you’ll be able to catch the special low light that is characteristic of Scandinavian productions.
The team behind PSN Sweden came together in Copenhagen, Denmark during 2011. Frequent requests to support shoots in Sweden compelled us to open up a dedicated office in Sweden as well. Since then, a lot of our clients have seen the benefit of combining the best from the two neighboring countries. Our main focus is high-end TVC productions; but we, of course, also service feature film and TV production companies and photo studios in need for local boots on the ground.
Please feel free to contact us at any time so we can help you with your specific production needs.
